Anna-Preston (AP) Schlosser
Founder of Authentic Pilates + Certified Master Pilates Instructor
Anna Preston began her Pilates practice in 2016 after a back and hip injury from exercising and lifting with incorrect form. Having explored various exercise modalities, she discovered that Pilates was the perfect fit for her body. Pilates stood in a league of its own, demanding not only physical and mental strength but also helped developed a profound mind-body connection that set it apart from any other fitness practice.
Growing up with a background as an equestrian, Anna Preston’s love for movement was ingrained from a young age. She rode for SCAD's collegiate equestrian team and had the privilege of riding and training at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.
In 2019 she began her training with Karyn Staples, PT, PhD, NCPT, and Brent Anderson, PT, PhD, OCS of Polestar Pilates. After completing her certification in Polestar, she began working with her mentor, Grace Parra, a Romana’s Certified classically trained instructor to learn the classical method. She has since continued her education and learned from other leading instructors in the classical realm.
She holds continuing education certifications from NASM and is a Functional Range Conditioning Movement Specialist (FRCms).
She blends classical and contemporary together with a great appreciation for the origin of Pilates. She helps her clients understand their movement patterns, find meaning and mindfulness in movement, and develop a deeper sense of connection to their bodies.
Barbara Babcock
Certified Romana’s Pilates Instructor
I started my Pilates journey after the birth of our fourth child. I loved the work and its positive impact on my health so much that I became a Certified Pilates Instructor with Romana's Pilates International in 2021. I hold a BS and MA in Education, so when I decided to leave the academic world in 2108, Pilates instruction made sense. In my life I have been drawn to helping people do or be better and cheering them on along the way. It is very rewarding to help a client gain flexibility or strength - or just leave feeling like their world is a better place because they feel good. That's what we all work for - to really improve peoples' day-to-day lives.
I believe in the Pilates Method because it has worked in my own body and mind. I have always been active, but my core was not strong and it was even weaker after having 4 babies. Something I have always loved was the feeling of getting into the movement and finding the focus needed to do it correctly. Pilates was a great stress reliever when our kids were young and I was working full-time as a teacher. My Pilates sessions were (and are) my time and I have always felt better after a challenging workout.
With my background in special education, I gravitate toward being more student-centered and focus on cognitive learning. I love learning and sharing new things with clients that work for their body on that day. The work of Pilates is as much mental as it is physical because it requires focus to physically complete the exercises correctly.
In my spare time, enjoy being with my husband, our 4 adult children and our 2 dogs. Since moving to the Greensboro Area in 2025, we are enjoying discovering all that makes the area great. We love to travel and go SCUBA diving when we are able. I was a figure skater and coach when I was younger and I love to get back on the ice when I can.
My favorite Joseph Pilates quote is, "Every moment of our life can be the beginning of great things." because it applies so well to my life. My hope is to continue to be the beginning of your Pilates journey at Authentic Pilates in Greensboro.
